In this online escape room set at a middle school’s traditional annual picnic, your class was chosen to host a booth showing off what you learned from your pen pals around the world. It’s time to put your booth together, but all your supplies have been locked away! Will you be able to get your booth together before the picnic starts?

YES - With a little over 8 minutes left - no hint used

Verdict:

After a (noticeably) longer break than we had initially intended, we finally had time to tackle the final round of Paruzal's "Great Escape Tournament". (Fortunately, the "grace period" for playing the games post-elimination was relatively long.)
With nothing to lose, and a fairly good mood, we went through this first game with relative ease. Yes, I say "first" because the 4th round was actually made of two 30-min games, which can now purchased separately or as a pack. Given that, I've decided to treat them as two distinct entries.

While I feel I'm almost running out of things to say about Paruzal games (they differ wildly in themes, not so much in execution), I can at least point out that those less expensive, "snack size" games (and especially this one, IMHO) could be a great way to discover the company and what they have to offer.

Lessons Learned (or re-learned):

• Players... A nice thing with online games is that it's much easier to have different players try different solutions, for the same puzzle, concurrently. One team member believes that method X is the right way to solve a puzzle, and someone else thinks it's method Y? Don't bother arguing, just have them try both.
• Designers... At one point in the game, we wanted to attempt something which a) wasn't the right idea, and b) would have destroyed the clues needed for the puzzle - which, as we all know, is a big no-no with Escape Rooms. You could think that remote play would solve that problem instantly, since your host will just tell you can't do that, and yet... without a reasonable, in-game explanation, that fleeting sense of immersion could - once again - promptly vanish. 👎

Verdict:

Après une pause (significativement) plus longue que prévue, nous avons finalement eu le temps d'attaquer la ronde finale du "Great Escape Tournament" de Paruzal. (Heureusement, la période de grâce pour profiter des jeux suite à l'élimination d'une équipe était relativement longue.)
Avec une bonne humeur généralisée, et plus rien à perdre, nous avons complété ce premier jeu avec une relative aisance. Oui, j'ai bien dit "premier jeu", car cette 4e ronde était composée de deux jeux de 30 minutes, qu'on peut désormais jouer séparément ou en combo. De ce fait, j'ai décidé de les traiter en deux publications distinctes.

Même si je commence à être à court de choses à dire sur les jeux Paruzal (ceux-ci diffèrent beaucoup dans leurs thèmes, mais moins dans leur exécution), je peux quand même souligner que ces jeux en "format collation", moins onéreux, pourraient être une excellente manière de découvrir ce que l'entreprise a à offrir. (Et entre les deux, je recommande celui-ci.)

Leçons à retenir (ou à réviser):

• Joueurs... un avantage que procure les jeux en ligne est de permettre à différents joueurs d'essayer différentes solutions, sur la même énigme, en même temps. Un membre de votre équipe croit que la méthode X est la bonne solution, alors qu'un autre est persuadé qu'il faut suivre la piste Y? Nul besoin de se disputer, laissez-les suivre leur idée.
• Concepteurs... à un certain moment dans le jeu, nous avons voulu essayer une idée qui 1) n'était pas la bonne, et qui 2) aurait détruit de l'information requise - ce qui, on le sait, est inexcusable dans tout jeu qui se respecte. On pourrait penser que c'est un problème qui se règle tout seul, puisque votre avatar peut s'inventer une excuse pour ne pas le faire, mais... si cette excuse semble tirée par les cheveux, le sentiment d'immersion, toujours fragile, en pâtira. 👎
